On Sunday, September 10th, I attended Yoga Rocks the Park presented by prAna at Sunken Gardens Park in Denver, CO.

Not having attended any yoga events in Denver yet, I wasn’t sure what to expect. So of course I got there super early for check-in and to get my spot in the park.

Clearly I didn’t need to get there until about 5-10 minutes before meditation about “Dropping In” started at 8:30 am, with the park being large and the event hosting around 150 people, music provided by @sonicfloww and yoga began at 9 am.

Although this event is free, donations are encouraged and sales help support YRP non-profit partner Food Bank of the Rockies (every $1 creates 4 meals for those in need!) and cover event expenses.

Various vendors attend the event everyone from ripple (a dairy-free, vegan, nut-, lactose- & gluten-free milk alternative), local massage company, to local clothing, yoga/fitness and vitamin drip company, Revive Colorado offering samples and discounts of each’s’ products.

In addition to the class, vendors, slack liners and aerial yoga demonstrations, tribal markers were done throughout the yoga class. At the end of the yoga class four yoga mats were given away and  a Zumba class began, which if you’re into Zumba would have been fun!

This class was provided by @tavayoga with one of the most entertaining and reviving instructors I’ve ever practiced with, Tyrone Beverly, and was introduced to Yoga Poetry for the first time, which was really awesome! I couldn’t find a video of the yoga poetry (I guess you had to be there!) but found this awesome video produced by Lululemon of Tyrone talking about gratitude.

For parents with children ages 5-10 years old and want to introduce them to yoga the event offers Kids Camp Yoga that runs in unison with the adult program.

Here’s the weekly schedule:

  • 8 am – Check-in open (pre-reg here) Vendor Village open.
  • 8:30 am- Guided meditation and talk
  • 8:55 am – Camp YRP begins (ages 5-10). (MUST PRE-REGISTER)
  • 9 am – 10:30 am – All-levels Yoga Class with live/DJ music
  • 10:30 am – Camp YRP ends. Parents to pick up by 10:45 am.
  • 10:45 – 11:30 am – Enjoy vendors + take home tons of goodies

There is one more event left this summer on Sunday, September 17, 2017 and I highly recommend attending. Register Here!
